Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival & Night Herping.

After settling into your rooms and a round of mutual introductions, your skipper will brief you on the rules of the tour, what to look forward to, along with some photography tips that’ll help you and get the ball rolling.

Our exploration of Munnar will begin with our experts in the field of frogs and snakes introducing us to the rainforest ecology and the snakes of Munnar.

Post the briefing, at 7pm we’ll begin herping on our first nature trail to find and photograph a variety of creatures of the night. We’ll try to spot as many as we can and implement everything we’ve learnt about macro photography to bring back some amazing pictures.

After a few hours of herping, we’ll return to the lodge right in time for dinner, rest and relaxation and then turn in for the night, anticipating the next day’s adventure.

Day 2 - Resplendent Frog Trail & Night Herping.

The next day, after breakfast we’ll head out on our first morning nature trail to photograph the Resplendent Bush Frog among other fascinating reptiles, insects and birds. We’ll return for lunch and unwind for the rest of the day. Participants can use this time to review their images with their mentor to better their skills and try out new techniques to implement in their next outing. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful Windermere Estate. The vantage point at the estate is a must visit. With a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats, you can spend a significant amount of time just taking in the crisp air and enjoying the solitude. After a relaxing evening over tea/coffee and snacks, we’ll group up for an early dinner and go back into the night like Day 1 to capture more exotic creatures of the night.

Day 3 - Nilgiri Tahr Trail & Night Herping.

After breakfast we’ll travel to Rajamalai, a beautiful area close to Eravikulam National Park, to photograph the Nilgiri Tahr.

Once we get there we’ll switch transport to a public bus since private transport is not allowed up the hill. You’ll have half a day to enjoy the view around you and take as many pictures as you want of the Nilgiri Tahr. We’ll return to the estate in time for lunch, and break for the day.

In the evening we’ll head out on our final nature trail for Herping and macro photography and come back to call it a day.

Day 4 - End of camp; final dispersal.

We’ll have our final breakfast as a group and bid our farewell to one of the most beautiful rainforests in South India after our group photo.
